High Speed 2 (HS2)

Planned as the UK’s second purpose-built high-speed train line following HS1, the HS2 project will link London with the West Midlands in the largest infrastructure project in Europe at an estimated cost of £72bn. It will include the construction of 11 tunnels, a viaduct, 4 tunnels and 312km of track. Once operational, carbon neutral bullet trains will substantially reduce travel times across the national rail network. Estimated completion date 2029 to 2033.
